For my F1 zine, I aimed to capture the dynamic energy and intensity of the sport, focusing on the next upcoming race. The design was developed using InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, with a clear emphasis on speed and roughness. I selected Adelle Sans Devanagari for the body copy and Alphacorsa for headings and titles to create a strong typographic hierarchy. To evoke the raw, high-speed nature of F1, I applied motion blur and grain effects, mimicking the texture of the asphalt. Throughout the zine, I incorporated team colours and maintained a minimalist, bold layout to emphasize the sport’s energy and fast-paced environment.
For my typography class, I created a zine inspired by George Orwell’s 1984, offering a visual interpretation of the novel’s exploration of resistance and rebellion against totalitarian regimes. Titled A Manifesto of Resistance, the zine focused on the interplay of beauty, power, and defiance, illustrating how these elements generate a sense of urgency and tension. I employed contrasting typefaces to reinforce these themes, using typography as a means of embodying the conflict between oppression and freedom. The color palette was thoughtfully selected to allude to surveillance and rebellion, adding another layer of meaning to the narrative. This project challenged me to push the boundaries of type design, using it as a tool to communicate complex societal and emotional tensions.
This business, Toronto Fluff, is a pancake business based in Toronto. I wanted to capture the fun, playful nature of the brand. I designed the logo to feature a walking pancake, adding personality and energy. The colour palette - bright light blue, light purple, and brown reflects the vibrant, welcoming atmosphere I aimed to create. I had a lot of fun experimenting with illustrated logos in Illustrator, and I used the typeface Arco for the word-mark to give the brand a clean yet quirky look. The process was all about blending creativity and boldness to make something memorable and full of character.
